Tips - Home Economics
Home Economics
-
When revising for the exam, be positive.
-
Take care of your health as part of your exam preparation
-
Final preparation for the exam should start approx. 10 weeks before the
exam. Remember not to neglect your health it is important to have a balanced
diet and take plenty of excersise. It is important to get at least 8 hours
sleep every night.
-
It cannot be stressed enough to have a good grasp of the nutrition and
physiology sections as these are set questions on the paper every year.
(For the year 2001 it may be worth your while to look over the liver and
the vitamin sections in these chapters.)
-
The exam lasts 2hrs and 45 mins. This gives us 30 mins to do 5 questions
and 15 mins to read over the paper at the end.
-
Although there are 2 social questions on the paper, it is worth noting
that these are the questions which are very difficult to obtain marks with,
as they are really broad sections and require extra studying.
-
It is so important to have learned off a good selection of recipes, which
cover a wide range of ingredients. Quiche, Lasagna, milk puddings, and
varying pasta dishes will form a good foundation for the recipes that need
to be learned.
-
Do not underestimate electrical appliances. These are very common
questions on the paper and as the questions are always nearly the same.
This may be a good area to obtain vital marks.
-
Human physiology is also another set question and it overlaps well with
Biology. Biology students tend to attempt this question. Remember the lymph
system has never been examined, this could always be the first year.
-
Budgeting, advertising, media and consumer studies are also very popular
questions on the paper.
-
Home Economics is not difficult. It just is a matter of learning
your stuff. With that in mind good luck in the exam.
